The Government of Karnataka conducts the online Post Matric Scholarships disbursements through Electronic payment and Application of the Karnataka ePass application at karepass.cgg.gov.in. KARePass is initiated by the Department of Backwards Class Welfare.
The Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri Siddaramaiah on October 1, 2013, launched the Karnataka ePass scheme. The main objective of this welfare is to uplift the students belonging to the backwards class.
The Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with the Department of Backward Class Welfare, provides the scholarship/ stipend to the students of Karnataka State through ePass Pre and Post-matric scholarship for ePass fee reimbursement.

Electronic payment and Application of the Karnataka state (ePass) is meant for those students who want to continue their further education after schooling but are financially weak and cannot pursue their college studies. Every year, a large number of students avail the scholarship amount to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The purpose of KAR ePass Pre and Post matric scholarship is to encourage people from backwards class to educate their children. The Government of Karnataka has taken the initiative to help the students who are willing to pursue higher education but are not able to pay the course fee.
KAR ePass Scheme links all the welfare departments, treasury, schools’ and colleges’ databases to pay out the Prathibha Puraskar Scholarship so that the students who are financially weaker section can also go for higher studies and contribute to the country’s economy.
Who can avail the benefit of this scheme?
Those students who belong to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Class, Disabled, and Economically Backward Class can avail the benefits of this scholarship.
Eligibility for KAR ePass Prathibha Puraskar Scholarship
- The candidate applying for KAR ePass scholarship must belong to SC/ ST/ OBC/ EBC or PwD category.
- The family income of the aspirant must not be more than INR 2 lacs per annum.
How to Apply for KAR ePass Scholarship
- Candidates should visit the official website of Karnataka ePass i.e. karepass.cgg.gov.in to apply for KAR ePass Scholarship.
- After visiting the official website, you can see a tab “Apply Online” on the homepage of the website.
- Move your mouse cursor to the “Apply Online” tab to apply for KAR ePass Prathibha Puraskar Scholarship.
Know Your KAR ePass Application Status
Step 1: To know your KAR ePass application status, you can either visit the official website of KARePass i.e. karepass.cgg.gov.in and click on the “Application Status” button or can directly visit this link mentioned here: www.karepass.cgg.gov.in/applicationStatus.do
Step 2: After redirecting to the “Application Status” Page, fill up the required information in the online form as mentioned below.
- Application Number: Enter your ePass 2017 application number.
- Academic Year: Enter your academic year.
- SSLC Pass Type: Enter the Board name from which you have completed your SSC i.e. Karnataka Regular, CBSE, ICSE or any Other State Board.
- Year of Pass: Enter your SSC passing year.
- SSLC Registration Number: Enter your School Secondary Leaving Certificate Hall Ticket Number.
- Date of Birth: Enter your date of birth as mentioned in your 10th certificate.
Step 3: After filling up all the details, click on the “Get Status” button. By following this procedure, you can check the whether the scholarship amount has been deposited and sent to your corresponding college or not.
In case, you do not know what your KARePass Application Number is, you can simply follow the procedure mentioned ahead.
Know Your KAR ePass Application Number
Step I: Visit the official website of KAR ePass i.e. www.karepass.cgg.gov.in and click on the second tab “Know Your Application Number” on the left side of the homepage of the website.
Step II: Once clicked on the tab, you will be redirected to the “Print Application/ Acknowledgment” Page. Or you can directly visit this link mentioned here: www.karepass.cgg.gov.in/searchapplicationno.do
Step III: Now fill up these required details in the online form:
- Fresh/ Renewal: Select your specification i.e. fresh or renewal.
- Academic Year: Select your academic year.
- SSLC Examination Number: Enter your SSC Hall Ticket Number.
- Year of Pass: Enter the year when you passed out 10th standard.
- SSLC Pass Type: Select the board from which you have completed your SSC i.e. Karnataka Regular, CBSE, ICSE or any Other State Board.
- Date of Birth: Enter your date of birth as mentioned in your 10th certificate.
After filling up all the required information carefully, click on the “Get Scholarship Details” button.
KAR ePass Prathibha Puraskar Scholarship is a great initiative of the Government of Karnataka, which is encouraging a large number of students to pursue higher education and fulfil their dreams. This scheme has benefited over lacs people who belong to the economically weak section of the Karnataka State and are not able to pay the fee of higher education.
